I am married to Brian, and have 5 daughters. The 3 eldest are all teachers of one
sort or another, and the 2 youngest are students. I have lived in Porthcawl for 50 years, and before that I lived in
Bridgend. My parents originally came from Swansea.
I attended Bridgend Girls Grammar School, and then Barry Training College. Although
I qualified as a Primary School teacher, I went to work in Port Talbot College of Further Education (known as 'Margam
Tech'). I continued to work there for 28 years, in a variety of roles - Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Director of Study,
Projects & Funding Manager. The College changed its name a few times to - it became Afan College, then part of Neath
Port Talbot College.

For 7 years I was at home raising my
eldest 3 children, and I spent much of my time sewing – making clothes for the girls, and taking in sewing to supplement
the family income. I went to work at ‘Margam Tech’ when my third daughter was 5 years old, so I know the challenges
of balancing a career and a family. When my younger 2 daughters were born, I campaigned for an on-site creche at the college
which was - eventually - successful, although too late for me to take advantage of it!

As you can
see, besides my husband Brian, I have 5 daughters who are my greatest support. I also have 8 grandchildren - 5 girls
& 3 boys - ranging from 9 months to 23 years.
I am also fortunate in that two of my sisters and their
families live locally, and my brother lives in Carmarthenshire. I have a sister in Australia whom I haven't
seen for over 40 years, and we are campaigning to get her over for a well-deserved holiday!
